You might enjoy seeing some of my own crazies on my pinterest board and the use of pattern to either make a wreath quilt or the idea of designing motifs to fit the shape of the pieces, with simple one-stencil screen printing. If you have anyone going for a wreath pattern the hardest thing is matching the backgrounds - no two whites or creams are the same! Of course we have dedicated quilting fabrics these days and can go for a colour theme, or pick a limited palette one thing I should have mentioned was that the old quilts were a riot of different colours with what was in the rag bag!
https://www.pinterest.com/sarahjwaldock/my-quilts/Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03121102757759349165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054099993321713428.post-87949190579865060382015-12-30T20:59:44.061+00:002015-12-30T20:59:44.061+00:00Thank you. I'm teaching patchwork in January and wondered if I could use some of your information when I cover the history of it. I promise to cite you and give them your blog page. I've loved reading about it. I'm new to patchwork and particularly drawn to crazy patchwork. Thank you again brilliant. There's not a lot out there about the history of patchwork, I had to do a lot of digging in different places, and it's always rewarding to find out that someone can use it. Good luck with your patchwork! I'm part of a medieval enactor group in Queensland, Australia, and your research on patchwork/quilting is just what I needed as I choose the style for the covers I'm sewing for our bed. :-) ramblingtarthttp://www.ramblingtart.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054099993321713428.post-2037079441451675452014-09-19T17:46:40.212+01:002014-09-19T17:46:40.212+01:00Go ahead! please credit me in your bibliography. ...Go ahead! please credit me in your bibliography. So far as I'm aware I'm the first patchworker in my family though we have 4 generations at least of needleworkers with lady tailors, dressmakers and a milliner in the family. I still have the milliner's [my great great aunt Alice] treadle sewing machine which came to my great aunt and then to me. How wonderful that your mother and aunts could identify some of the fabric, I hope you've photographed it and added their memories and notes in a memory album for future generations!
Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03121102757759349165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054099993321713428.post-43323502614302499362012-12-20T18:06:51.245+00:002012-12-20T18:06:51.245+00:00Sarah, Very nice writing on [atchwoek. When I cleaned out one of my Grany's closet a few years back I found enough patch work squres for my mother to piece a depression quilt in 4 different patterns. All the blocks had been pieced onto newspaper shapes. The paper was dated from the 1920s. My grandmother, great grand mother great aunt and my mother had all worked on the quilt patches . My moterh and aunts could identify some of the fabric.
Nan in KnoxvilleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054099993321713428.post-89589710548937373682012-12-05T14:00:13.309+00:002012-12-05T14:00:13.309+00:00Cool!
